As a Child who rapidly matured in key areas of my physique, I struggled with body confidence immensely. Ashamed to change in front or among my peers, worried that people laughed at me and not feeling like a teenager when I couldn't wear dresses my age or had to go sizes up or even when people made jest or passed comments of the significant growth in my body as they were clueless and cant be blamed (it was hard to comprehend myself).
I mean which teenage girl didn't love the famous alter neck dresses or the tube dresses. I craved them so bad but lol the physique couldn't have it any other way or so I thought. It was a nightmare and put me in a shell of low Body Confidence.
All this went on until my university days, I stopped settling for what's available and started making my own choices, designing pieces that truly fit my body.
Lola's clothier (formerly known as tailoredbyjonwo) was born officially in 2016 and started off only as dresses for me and my body to growing into creating for other women, dresses for women to stand out, show up and show out in whatever body they have.
In pursuit of my masters degree, I delved deeply into the essence of body confidence, exploring the relentless struggle we face, often finding ourselves powerless against it.
I have explored the intricate bond between garments and a person, leading me to establish this safe sanctuary where women need not carry the burdens of their past or their bodies alone, but instead embrace and enrich the present while adorning themselves in exquisite attire.
